You can grow an amazing TikTok following very quickly but how can you use that to grow your other social media accounts? Today, we’ll share some tips and tricks on how you can use TikTok to grow your other social media accounts. And make sure you stick around to the end, because we’re going to share our favourite tips on how you can also use it to grow your email list!
1. Record on TikTok
Starting on TikTok lets you put out that piece of content and after saving to your phone you can then take it and post it to other social media channels. TikTok has a lot more features than Instagram Reels, for example. And so if you recorded on TikTok then you’re able to post that exact video to Reels too. It’s also important to note that TikTok has original sounds that you can post to Instagram. Whereas with Reels, they will strip you of the audio content and so it’s just better to record it on TikTok and then repurpose it.
Here is how you automatically save your videos to your phone. When you’re getting ready to post a video on that published screen, make sure the little button is turned on that says “Save to Your Device”. Then it’s gonna remember the setting for all of your future videos.
2. Save TikTok Videos to Your Phone
Now, if you wanna save an older video to your phone, then you just go to the old video, and then in the lower right-hand corner, you can click on the three little dots and it’s gonna pull up a screen. And you will see a feature that says, “Save Video”. After download that you’ll see that it’s automatically saved to your phone.
We don’t tend to remove the watermark, but if you want to, there is a tool called Video Eraser. All you need to do is upload the video and then there’s a tool to remove the watermark and save it to your phone.
3. Link to Your Other Social Media Profiles
Next, make sure you add links to your other social media channels in your profile. As you know, you’re able to link your Instagram and YouTube account in your TikTok, and when you have it linked it makes it easy for people to access your other pages. All you have to do is go to your home screen and click on “Edit Profile”. There, you’re gonna see where you can put in all your information. You wanna go ahead and put a link to your website and then click on Instagram, add your Instagram, and then click on YouTube and add your YouTube. If this is your first time doing that, then you will need to give authorisation to Instagram and YouTube.
4. Give Clear Calls-to-Action
Even though it’s already in your profile, you’ve got to tell people what to do. When you’re creating video content, create a text box that says, “follow me on Instagram” and include your handle. For longer videos like when you’re on live stream, make sure that throughout it you’re telling people to follow you on Instagram.
5. Leverage TikTok Live
Which leads us to our next tip, mentioning it while you’re live. You wanna give people a reason to go and follow you on those other social media pages. For example, you can say to people that they can’t save TikTok Live videos, and if they wanna learn something on a regular basis, then make sure to follow you on Instagram because you have more content on IGTV! And if someone wants to binge watch your content then they can go ahead and watch all those different videos that you have there. But also, if they want to be able to communicate with you one-on-one, then let them know that they can send you a DM on Instagram. Maybe some of the people watching aren’t ready to invest in a one-on-one conversation yet, so you can say that if they’re not ready, then just follow you and watch your content for awhile!
And another reason why you should invite them to come and send you a DM on Instagram, it’s because it’s like a pre-qualifier. So instead of just messaging you on TikTok, you’re giving them an action to take and if they take that action you know their level of interest.
6. Repurpose Your TikTok Videos
Repurposing your content to Instagram Reels. We like being able to do that because it’s already created content but it comes with a slight warning. You have to understand that if the video that you have created on TikTok has copyrighted music, you cannot upload that to Instagram because that runs a risk of you getting in trouble for using copyrighted music. However, if you’re using a creator audio that’s not copyrighted and you upload it to Instagram Reels, Instagram will just send you a prompt and say, “Hey, we’ve added this video content to this creator.” And that’s it, no problem.
So before you go and post all of your TikToks to Instagram Reels, it’s important that you note a couple of things. You wanna post videos on IG Reels that are performing well on TikTok. Because if people loved it there, then chances are they’re more likely to love it on Instagram too.
And make sure you keep your videos under 30 seconds because Reels only go up to 30 seconds. And then, don’t mention that you’re on TikTok, talk about your profile or call out features. Just do what you do.
We’ve been talking a lot about Instagram Reels but there’s so many other places where you can re-upload this content. You can upload it to YouTube, you can upload it to Pinterest, LinkedIn, so many different places! And finally for the bonus, let’s talk about how you can use TikTok to grow your email list.
7. How to Grow Your Email List with TikTok
We’re assuming you already have some sort of landing page on your website that you can draw people to. When you’re creating your bio on TikTok, even if you don’t have the clickable link yet, you can just write the link to your website there. It may not be clickable, but it’s still there. When you’re creating actual content in your TikTok videos, you can write the link for your website there.
In addition to that, you can direct them to your inbox on TikTok or you can direct them to your inbox on Instagram and you’re able to send them the links there. Once you do, get the clickable link feature then absolutely update your bio and put in the link that’s gonna cause people to join your email list.
